10 Costumes that no one else at the party will have

It's the first day of October and I have been waiting since September to make this post! I love Halloween, it may be my favorite holiday.

I LOVE seeing all the costumes on Halloween and I also like making my costumes. I try to avoid buying them because they are so ridiculously expensive and they are typically the ones everyone else has. I also try to use things that I already have because it saves so much money!

Some of the things I have been in the past is: dalmation, Dorthy (I found the red slippers at a consignment shop!), Indian, Nikki Minaj and a lion. This year I want to be a gumball machine but I will most likely change my mind

Here are a few costumes I found around the web!

1. Tiger: Looks so cool! All you really need to buy is the body paint and ears!

2. Daenerys aka Khaleesi: This is for my fellow GOT lovers! Even though her dragons are just a tad bigger now. Oh and this is Madonna if you were wondering. She totally pulls off Targaryen.

3. SHARK WEEK: Yes! These girls created a brilliant group costume! Easy to do and most likely everyone will "get it."

4. Comic Girl: If you love makeup this will be a fun costume to do. I always see pictures of this on Pinterest but I have never seen anyone with this costume in person! So be the first one you know to make it happen!

5. Bob Ross and his painting: This one was too funny and clever for me not to post. What a great couples costume. It's sure to be a crowd pleaser.

6. Pitch Perfect: You gotta love this group costume, and everything you need for it is probably already in your closet. Breaking out in acapella is optional.

6. Eye Mask: If you want something a little more terrifying try this look. It seems like it would be a fairly simple costume...maybe...OK, probably not but it's still awesome.

7. Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler: The couple you can't help but to love. Extra points if you talk nerdy to each other.

7. Pinata: Ok this is super cute. I kinda want to do this for my costume now put there is the risk that people will be hitting you the whole night. I think it might be worth it. We'll see.

8. Pineapple: How adorable is this costume?! This seems like one of those costumes that you could wear the whole day of Halloween and totally be fine with it. Hopefully it's not too chilly outside though.

9. OITNB: I have a feeling that I will be seeing a lot of Orange is the New Black this Halloween. How can you not want to be one of the lovely ladies on the show? By the way, that is definitely Julianne Hough as Crazy Eyes in the picture. I think I love both of them equally.

10. Nikki Minaj: I loved this costume so I had to post it. This was me at a Halloween party with a friend. Some people didn't know who I was until I told them for obvious reasons. But I still think it was a great costume!

Neon Nails

Hey everyone! Here is a fun nail design that I like to do and people always ask where I got them done at! They are always so surprised when I tell them I did them myself. I typically like to do this design in the summer because it is so bright. Even though it's getting really chilly where I am, summer is not quite over just yet! There are still a couple days of summer left to have fun with a neon nail design!

You Will Need:

  • Neon nail color
  • Black nail polish
  • A white nail brush
  • Top Coat

Start off with a bright color nail polish. I used HOT TUB from Urban Outfitters. If you have never bought polish from UO, check them out! They have great nail colors to choose from and at a relatively cheap price.

Next paint your ring finger and thumb with the black polish. You can switch up the fingers that you put the stripes on. Also, if you don't have the thin nail art brushes, you can use a Sharpie marker as an alternative. Just make sure to paint your nails white instead and then use the Sharpie to make black stripes.

To make the design a little more interesting I painted one finger with vertical stripes and one finger with horizontal stripes.

Make sure that when you apply the top coat to the nails with stripes on them, you are not going against the direction of the stripes. This can create the colors to bleed which is never fun.

Another great thing about this design is that even if you don't make the lines perfectly straight (which I am convinced is impossible), your nails will still look fabulous! It is the color block and contrast of black and white that makes them pop so don't freak out if you can't get the stripes right.

Yay! Now you have a super cool nail design that everyone will love! I have also done this design in yellow instead of pink and it looked really cool too!

5 Suprising Things That will Happen in College

This is a list of things I have experienced in college that I never would have imagined happening and no one ever told me about.

1. You will meet someone new everyday

I'm not exaggerating when I say this; you will meet someone new just about everyday! It's crazy when you think about it because that would mean you are meeting over 25 people a month. But there are people to meet everywhere you go. You will meet people in class, in your dorm, at organization meetings, at school events and your friends will introduce you to the people they met. It blows my mind that I'm a senior and I still meet new people everyday.

2. You can hangout with your professors

When I first heard about this phenomenon I thought it was really weird that people actually did this, but then I realized how awesome it is. My boyfriend told me that he went to the bar to have drinks with his professors almost every week! Most professors are not only there to teach you new things, they are also mentors. With this being said, you will probably get to know them pretty well and possibly become friends with them!

3. The people around you are super nice

OK, so ya know how in all of the movies people portray college students as overly competitive rich twats that secretly all hate each other? Well, it is nothing like that in the real world. (At least, not at my college.) People are usually very friendly and interested in you. This is because no matter where you go to school, there will be people that are different from you there. I go to a university in eastern Kentucky and there are people from all over the world that attend! The point is that everyone at your school is there for the same reason, they want to get a degree just like you! So remember that, and be nice to people because you never know who might be a life long friend.

4. People won't judge you for looking like a homeless person.

This one is probably my favorite. A couple days ago a guy walked into my dorm wearing pajama pants and no shirt. That crazy thing was that no one looked at him like he was crazy because you get used to seeing weird stuff in college. You probably have heard people rave about going to class in their sweats, but you can also dress/look/smell however you want in college! People don't care if you look disgusting because frankly darling, you deserve to look that way. During college you will be told to go, go, go! There is no time to relax and if that means sleeping in an extra 30 minutes to skip doing your hair, makeup and finding a cute outfit, than so be it.

5. There are A LOT of free things and great opportunities

It's crazy how many awesome things colleges offer that students take advantage of. You get things like a gym membership, tech support, tutoring, computer access (such as Adobe software and anything else you might need for your major), and not to mention all of the free stuff that is handed out just about every week like T-Shirts, food, etc. You also get a chance to learn about anything you could imagine by joining a club or going to an event held on campus. All of the stuff you get almost makes up for the hefty tuition...almost.
